Dr. Amsaveni Sivaprakasam has Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry and Master’s degree in Veterinary Microbiology. She has also received her Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics, Zoonosis and Advanced Reproductive Biotechnology in Animal Models. She received her training in Quality Management systems and Internal Audit in Medical Laboratories as per ISO 15189:2012.
Dr. Amsaveni is the Laboratory Manager for RePORT India Consortium, since April, 2018. She has been providing her support by developing Laboratory related Manuals, Case report forms and SOPs. She works more closely with the RePORT clinical research site staffs and Central TB Biorepository, National Institute of Research in Tuberculosis (NIRT), Chennai to facilitate data and specimen collection, storage, shipment and monitoring supply chain processes as per Common Protocol and proactively troubleshoots issues that interfere with achieving compliance with the laboratory procedures. She conducts visits to all the Clinical Research Units to support the labs involved in handling study specimens from recruited subjects. She works consistently to identify areas for continuous laboratory quality management and develop/implement tools to monitor internal quality assurance for tracking performance of technical lab aspects. She also coordinates and conduct targeted training for site-based lab staff to strengthen capacity. She is instrumental in organizing the specimen management system for RePORT and related sub-studies by providing technical assistance, real-time quality control, troubleshooting, monitoring and managing PBMC alerts for specimen shipment and periodical Tracking of central biorepository specimens collected for Common Protocol. She serves as primary contact for U.S. based contractor (PPD) and external quality assessment programs including pSMILE. She also serves as point of contact for coordinating with Dr. Luke Elizabeth Hanna, Central TB Biorepository Director for the review and release of biospecimens from Central TB Biorepository for the approved TB research studies.
