Dr. Mave is Leader and Director of Byramjee-Jeejeebhoy Government Medical College-Johns Hopkins University, India Clinical Research Site located in Pune, India. She is also Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She directs a team of approximately 200 personnel in India and oversees clinical research on adult and pediatric tuberculosis (TB), HIV/AIDS, as well as infectious diseases for the past 10 years.

Dr. Mave has an extensive record of research in India on TB, HIV/AIDS, and antimicrobial resistance. Her research work funded by U.S. and Indian government agencies as well as national and international foundations focuses on TB comorbidities including diabetes and HIV; the use of novel tools including hair pharmacokinetics, whole-genome sequencing, and host biomarkers to study TB treatment outcomes. Dr. Mave is Chair of the Indo-U.S. RePORT India Phase I common protocol, which facilitates biomarker discovery among TB participants and their household contacts who are at risk for TB infection and disease. She is RePORT India’s lead investigator for a Phase II/III recombinant BCG vaccine (VPM 1002) trial that aims to prevent TB recurrence among treated TB cases. She has been part of two World Health Organization workshops that formulated guidelines on HIV PMTCT management and TB clinical trial designs, respectively. Dr. Mave has more than 18 years of experience in clinical practice, education, and research in infectious diseases and has published more than 100 peer-reviewed research articles.
